The Traumazine rapper has been open about her struggles with anxiety.<\/p>\n<h2>Why They Chose Megan<\/h2>\n<p>Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, has shared about her mental health struggles in her work and during interviews. The hot girl coach is willing to share her experiences to help others realize that hope lives on the other side of their challenges. &#8220;I&#8217;m honored to receive this year&#8217;s Mental Health Champion award from The Trevor Project,&#8221; Pete said. &#8220;My goal has always been to use my platform to help break <a href=\"https:\/\/blackhealthmatters.com\/debunking-mental-health-myths\/\">stigmas<\/a> around mental health and provide resources for those seeking safe spaces to have honest and heartfelt conversations. Mental health impacts all of us, so it&#8217;s important to lead with love and empathy. I&#8217;m grateful for organizations like The Trevor Project that are committed to spreading awareness and supporting our LGBTQ+ youth in powerful ways.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>What is The Trevor Project?<\/h2>\n<p>The Trevor Project is an organization dedicated to eliminating suicide among LGBTQ+ young people. It provides counseling and research aimed to help those fighting through stigma, discrimination, and internalized homophobia. Megan&#8217;s activism doesn&#8217;t just stop at words; she builds real, tangible resources for vulnerable communities that are too often overlooked or left behind. As a queer Black person, I wish I had someone like Megan to look up to when I was growing up. Her courage, her authenticity, and her unwavering commitment to mental health advocacy will echo for generations. The Trevor Project is proud to honor her incredible impact, especially at a time when LGBTQ+ young people are being stripped of life-saving resources. Megan Thee Stallion&#8217;s voice is not just powerful. It&#8217;s essential.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>She&#8217;s Not Just Dropping Bars, There Are Real Life Resources Available For Her Hotties<\/h2>\n<p>Her site Bad Bitches Have Bad Days Too features directories for therapy providers, community helplines, and helpful podcasts. The site derived its name from lyrics to the Megan Thee Stallion track &#8220;Anxiety.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The song features the lyrics &#8220;All I really wanna hear is &#8216;it&#8217;ll be okay&#8217;\/ Bounce back &#8217;cause a bad b***ch can have bad days&#8221; and &#8220;They keep sayin&#8217; I should get help\/ But I don&#8217;t even know what I need\/They keep sayin&#8217; speak your truth\/And at the same time say they don&#8217;t believe.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She created the <a href=\"https:\/\/blackhealthmatters.com\/what-is-megan-thee-stallions-pete-thomas-foundation\/\">Pete &amp; Thomas Foundation<\/a> to promote healthcare access for all.<\/p>\n<p>According to a 2023 article in the <a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC10312036\/\">Journal of Psychiatric Annals<\/a>, &#8220;Black people comprise 13% of the United States population, yet comprise nearly 20% of those who are living with mental illness,&#8221; and &#8220;Black people are disproportionately affected by mental illness, including depression.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Megan is Working to Break Stigmas Around Mental Health in the Rap Community<\/h2>\n<p>Discussions about mental health in the rap community have become more prominent in recent years. Cardi B and Big Sean have talked about how depression has negatively impacted their careers. <a href=\"https:\/\/blackhealthmatters.com\/lil-jon-wants-us-to-get-low-to-check-for-colon-cancer\/\">Lil&#8217; Jon<\/a> released an album of affirmations designed to help listeners heal their minds and bodies.<\/p>\n<p>Mental health stigma affects all communities, but it shows up in distinct ways in the Black community. Pete acknowledged this during a PSA for the Ad Council&#8217;s &#8220;Seize the Awkward&#8221; campaign, an initiative designed to help young people share information about their mental health so they can get help.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve always been told I gotta be strong. Thick-skinned. Stiff upper lip. Tough as nails. But to be everything for everybody \u2013 it wears on you. Black doesn&#8217;t crack, they say. But it can. I can. We all can. Y&#8217;all, it&#8217;s okay not to be okay. Reach out to a friend if you see them going through it.
